Hasuri Ausanpur: A Beacon of Green Energy & Innovation in U.P

UP village to be 2nd in India to get clean & green power

Hasuri Ausanpur: A Beacon of Green Energy & Innovation in U.P

In the heart of Uttar Pradesh’s Siddharthnagar district lies the village of Hasuri Ausanpur, an unassuming hamlet that became the second gram panchayat in India to achieve the milestone of clean and green power. This remarkable transformation is a testament to the visionary leadership of Sarpanch Shri Dilip Tripathi, whose innovative efforts have garnered national recognition, including accolades from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A Vision for Carbon Neutrality

Inspired by Prime Minister Modi‘s declaration of Palli panchayat in Jammu and Kashmir as India’s first carbon-neutral village, Shri Dilip Tripathi resolved to bring the same distinction to Hasuri Ausanpur. His determination and forward-thinking strategies have been instrumental in propelling this village towards sustainable development.

Under the aegis of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) and in collaboration with IIT-Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU), Hasuri Ausanpur has undertaken an energy survey and is in the process of preparing a Local Climate Action Plan. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, aims to replicate the success of Palli, leveraging technical expertise to make Hasuri Ausanpur carbon-neutral.

Pioneering Green Initiatives

Shri Dilip Tripathi’s leadership has ushered in a series of groundbreaking initiatives in Hasuri Ausanpur:

  • Afforestation and Renewable Energy: The village boasts 16,000 trees, including neem, peepal, barged, and sheesham, spread over six hectares. This massive afforestation drive not only enhances the green cover but also contributes significantly to carbon sequestration. Additionally, installing 31 solar street lights, four solar irrigation pumps, and solar power plants at the primary school and panchayat Bhawan underscores the village’s commitment to renewable energy.
  • Smog Tower: Perhaps the most striking innovation is the installation of an outdoor mass-level air purifier with carbon storage capability. This smog tower, operational since November 12, has shown remarkable results in reducing pollution levels. The tower processes 900,000 cubic meters of air daily, providing clean air within a 500-meter radius. The reduction in PM10 and PM2.5 levels has been particularly notable, significantly improving the village’s air quality.
  • Infrastructure and Connectivity: Every household in Hasuri Ausanpur is equipped with gas and electric connections, and 100% of the homes have LED lighting. This infrastructural upgrade not only enhances the quality of life for residents but also promotes energy efficiency.

National Recognition and Future Aspirations

The transformative journey of Hasuri Ausanpur under Shri Dilip Tripathi’s stewardship has not gone unnoticed. His innovative approach and dedication have been lauded by various national platforms, including a mention by Prime Minister Modi himself. The story of Hasuri Ausanpur’s green revolution has been featured in several reputed newspapers, highlighting the village as a model of sustainable development.
